Buffalo Turf
A Soft, Versatile Choice for Family Lawns
Buffalo is a popular choice for residential lawns because of its broad, soft leaf and attractive appearance.
It can be a great option for family backyards, children’s play areas and homes with a mixture of sunny and partly shaded areas. Once established, Buffalo creates a dense lawn that feels comfortable underfoot.
Buffalo may suit you if you want:
A soft and comfortable family lawn
A lawn suitable for children and pets
Good coverage and an attractive finish
A turf option for areas with some shade
A lawn that can recover from general household use
Things to consider:
Buffalo still requires sunlight, watering and regular care to establish well. The exact amount of shade it will tolerate depends on the variety, location and surrounding conditions.
Best suited to:
Family homes, backyards, front lawns and areas with sun or partial shade.
Kikuyu Turf
A Soft, Versatile Choice for Family Lawns
Hardy Turf for Busy, Sunny Areas
Kikuyu is a strong and fast-growing turf suited to sunny lawns and high-use areas.
Its vigorous growth allows it to establish quickly and recover well from regular activity. This makes it a practical option for larger properties, family yards and lawns used by children or pets.
Kikuyu may suit you if you want:
A hardy lawn for regular use
Fast, vigorous growth
Good recovery from wear
Turf for a sunny, open area
A practical option for larger lawns
Things to consider:
Because Kikuyu grows quickly, it generally requires regular mowing and maintenance during its active growing season. It performs best in areas receiving plenty of sunlight.
Best suited to:
Sunny family yards, rural properties, large lawn areas and active outdoor spaces.
Couch Turf
A Fine-Leaf Lawn With a Neat Finish
Couch is a fine-leaf turf known for creating a dense, tidy and well-manicured lawn.
It performs best in sunny areas and can be maintained at a lower mowing height than broader-leaf varieties. Couch is a good option for customers who enjoy maintaining their lawn and want a clean, refined appearance.
Couch may suit you if you want:
A fine, attractive leaf
A dense and tidy lawn
Turf that can be closely mown
A lawn for a sunny position
A neat, manicured finish
Things to consider:
Couch performs best with plenty of direct sunlight. It may require regular mowing, feeding and maintenance to retain its best appearance.
Best suited to:
Sunny front lawns, landscaped areas, larger open spaces and customers wanting a finer finish.

Which Turf Is Right for You?
Start With How You Will Use Your Lawn
Before selecting your turf, consider:
How many hours of direct sunlight does the area receive?
Is the lawn mainly decorative or will it experience regular activity?
Will children or pets use the area?
How often are you willing to mow and maintain it?
What type of soil and drainage does the property have?
Do you prefer a broad, soft lawn or a finer, manicured appearance?
If you are unsure, talk to Bill. With more than 50 years of local growing history behind Robson Turf, he can help you compare the available options without making the decision complicated.
How Much Turf Will You Need?
Measure the length and width of each lawn area in metres, then multiply them together:
Length × Width = Square Metres
For example:
10 metres × 5 metres = 50 square metres
For irregular areas, divide the lawn into smaller rectangles, calculate each section and add the totals together.
It is generally helpful to allow a small amount of additional turf for cutting, shaping and wastage. Bill can help confirm how much you should order.
